"In the hay-loft up those stairs" Trixiepelt replied simply. She completely missed Pepperfur's walk of triumph passed the Thunderclan tom. At the base of the staircase that lead upstairs to the hayloft, she paused to glance at Pepperfur. “I don’t know if you want to try climbing these yet…..but I thought they’d be a great warm up for hunting and you’ll get some exercise to stretch your muscles” She meowed. With a near silent laugh, she added “And see, I’m sounding like a Medicine Cat again.” She purred in amusement.

Pepperfur gave a meow of laughter, nudging Trixiepelt gently. "At this point, I'm willing to try anything. I suddenly feel.. a lot better."He purred, and with a mischevious smirk, he turned to stare at the steps carefully, his determination showing through his amber eyes. "Ladies first," Pepperfur added teasingly attempting to nudge Trixiepelt foreward.

Abu could sense the obvious hate that Batclaw and Pepperfur had for each other. But he didn't dare ask or even guess the reason why. It was none of his business. They seemed to be flaunting each other, perhaps for the attention of their female friend. But he went no further with his thoughts. Insted, after watching the other pair stride away, he returned his gaze to the tom in front of him. "Shall we?" he asked. It was importent that they knew the dangerous parts of the forest so they could steer clear of them, but if he wasn't feeling up to it, it was fine with him.

Trixiepelt couldn’t help but laugh at her friend’s new enthusiasm with hunting, almost an hour before he nearly refused to go. After nudging Pepperfur back, she leapt onto the first stair and the second. Within seconds, she was at the top of the stairway. Even as she looked around, mice ducked into straw-bails placed randomly onto the floor and in stacks. This was the perfect place to hunt! She turned to the stairs again and called down to Pepperfur:
“C’mon….before I catch all the mice up here!”
She called jokingly. Her gaze swept over the dusty hayloft again in amazement, from outside the barn never looked this big. High rafters with piles of straw leading all the way to the top, holes in the ceiling and windows gave huge shafts of sunlight to light up the entire barn.

With a small grunt, Pepperfur leapt upward onto the first stair. "Not likely!" He laughed, amber gaze flickering in amusement as he stared up at Trixiepelt. Narrowing these, he leapt again, from stair to stair. Slight pain ebbed at his muscles, but even so, Trixiepelt had been right. He felt exhilerated. With a final leap, he landed silently on the wooden top floor, staring around in amazement."Whoa!" Pepperfur's meow was a whisper so as not to scare any more mice.

Trixiepelt's gaze turned to see Pepperfur land silently beside her. Without a word, she gave a small nod to a pile of loose straw, motioning that she was going to hunt there. Letting Pepperfur decide where he wanted to hunt, she silently fell into the hunter's crouch and crept over to the pile. She paused for a mere moment to check for any new prey scents, but even in that short time a plump mouse ran right to her. Unsheathing her claws, she swept the mouse off the floorboard and caught it agian. Her grip tightened until she heard the spine of the mouse snap. An easy kill. Shaking her head in amusement, she padded to over where the stair's ended and set the body of the mouse down. If things kept going this way, they'd all have plenty to eat tonight.

Pepperfur flicked his tail to show that he understood, and turned away. He lowered his agile mottled body into a hunter's crouch, slipping into the elegant hunting position naturally. Paw after paw, he crept swiftly upon the far wall haystacks. Eyes were bright with a new idea...the mice could not get down the stairs. Where could they run to besides other hay stacks? Quickly, he hissed at the nearest bale, scattering at least three mice. Quickly, he pounced on the one stupid enough to run right toward him. Claws sank quickly into the prey, and the pressure killed it instantly.

“Nice Catch!”
Trixiepelt meowed, she needn’t worry about whether the mice could hear her meows or not. They had no where to go. Mice like this rarely made holes leading into the barn walls, the never really needed to. They never had to worry about predators before them. Just like before, she crept around a straw bail and easily spotted a large group of mice nibbling on a corncob. If she leapt now, she could easily catch two-three mice in one blow. But she waited and crept closer still. At last, a mouse caught her movements and began to race off followed by the others. Claws unsheathed instantly and she leapt. Loose hay brushed away by her landing, but she did land on two mice. Sinking her claws into the neck of one, she grabbed the other in her jaws. Two with one leap. Any cat would have killed for hunting like this back at home. With an amused purr, she picked up her prey and carried it over toward the pile that she had started a second before this. Gently setting the mice into the pile, she turned to look for Pepperfur again. They could lay around for the entire time and still catch enough prey to feed themselves and the two downstairs!

"Thanks!" Pepperfur purred, picking up the mouse in his jaws and padding over to the small pile, setting his own dusky brown mouse alongside Trixiepelt's. With that, he turned and paused in his hunting, watching the ginger she-cat hunt further. His eyes widened. Could these mice get any easier to catch? "You too," He added with a amused whisker twitch, turning to pad after another mouse, who was actually sleeping near the wall, obviously unaware of the danger.

Abu nodded to Batclaw and turned toward the door, beckoning with his tail for the tom to follow. As he padded out of the door, he stretched his legs and breathed in the fresh air. There was nothing like living wild and free. It was no wonder that kittypets were often jealous.

"Thanks"
Trixiepelt purred. As Pepperfur turned to hunt agian, she leapt into a pile of loose hay. Even has mice scattered. She made no move to hunt them down. Afterall, they already had enough prey to fill the three clan cats and who knows? Maybe Abu would have somewhere else to be later and not want the clan cat's food. Though they'd hunt enough mice for the loner just in case.....they had just got up the stairs and already, they had plenty to eat. It was time to mess around, explore and even sleep. Taking in the warmth of the sun burning through the holes in the roof, Trixie lay in the hay.
