Massie turned, meeting his gaze for a brief moment before smirking slightly. "Hey! Stubborn-ness is one of my best qualities!" She laughed playfully, pretending to look shocked and offended. Her calico tail brushed the ground now, dusting it lightly as the she-cat kneaded her paws in anticipation. But before she could do anything else, Mikkikko had declared a playful challenge and had bounded off up the trail. Massie's eyes widened in momentary shock before narrowing playfully. "What are you, a kit?" She called after him humorously, although without another word, she sprinted off after him. Slipping quickly up the trail, the calico let out a soft purr as she raced after her mate.

Mikkikko's harty laughter echoed down the trail as he looked over his shoulder to see his mate vigorously trying to catch up. He narrowed his eyes and tried to go faster. But after a while, his sides caved in when he inhaled, making it hard to breath and even harder to run. Now was a time he regretted his loss of appetite. He was glad when he spotted the top of the trail, slowing down to a walk, compleatly forgetting and unsuspecting of Massie behind him and that she'd probably jump him or something. He lowered his head to the soft ground and tried to catch his breath, swallowing between every few. He made sure to breath through his nose, knowing it was better to do that then through your mouth. Besides, it looked less worse then it was that way.

Massie's pace quickened as she neared the cliffside, skidding to a stop shortly after Mikkikko had arrived. She panted slightly, but still seemed energetic, glancing over the mountainside to look down onto the lands below. A few rocks were shifted by her paws, and they fell menacingly down the steep ridge. She did not at all seem intimidated, however, merely flicked her ears to Mikkikko to indicate whom she was speaking to as she kept her light green eyes on the abyss. "Wow! Some view, huh?" Massie purred, finally turning away to beam at her mate...only to see that Mikkikko wasn't looking so good. "You okay?" She asked, concern edging her voice slightly.

"I'm... fine!" he replied, a little more stubborn then usual. "Really. I'm just... winded is all. You are too." When it came to his dreams, he just refused to let Massie in for her own good. But when came to things like this, physical things, he was a little defensive. He didn't like showing weakness to anyone, including his mate. Raising his head, he snorted and joined Massie by her side, looking out at the view. She was right. It was some view. He smiled and looked down at the calico she-cat, affection slowly taking the place of his earlier accusations. "You're right." he told her, repeating his thoughts. "Some view."

Massie winced slightly at this, knowing that she had made Mikkikko uncomfortable. And so, she did not push the statement, but merely fell silent again. Her green eyes closed, and she breathed deeply, taking in Mikkikko's scent and that of the mountains. She sighed peacefully, opening her eyes again to glance at him again as he spoke. Smiling a little, Massie returned her gaze to the heights, surveying the scenery with sudden calmness. "We're on top of the world!" She mewed half-playfully, laughing a little as she spoke. The cool breeze ruffled her calico pelt, but all the same, the loner felt warmer than she had in a long time.

>> Ugh. No muse. Short post. Mikkikko smiled and nodded in agreement. He looked down at the casacading cliff side. Here would be the perfect place. a voice in his head told him. And the perfect time. The tom flattened his ears, as if it would block out the sound. Even if he did, he wouldn't right infront of Massie. That would kill her, or force her to try to save him and loose her life as well. Then she could be with you for all eternity. Mikkikko forced back the thought angrily. What if he made it and Massie didn't? Then what would he do? Try, try again. This time he just ignored the taunting voice. Insted, he took a step back from the edge, unaware of the dangerous beast just waiting until it's chance to shove him over the edge.

Massie stood, seeming almost transfixed by the horizon and everything below it, all which could be seen from this point. For a few moments, she seemed to be off in her own little world, letting the silence of the day wash over her. It was only when Mikkikko took a step back that the calico was stirred, turning to give her mate a curious glance that turned to one of slight concern when she took in his expression. Massie frowned slightly, her fur pricking. ''Is something...wrong?" She asked, her eyes narrowing as if to emphasize what she had asked.

But the russet colored tom only sat down, having taken another fairly small step backwards, and shook his head slowly, trying to act casual. "I'm alright. Are you?" he countered softly. "The edge is a little unstable, why not come sit down and enjoy the view?" he suggested, brushing the place beside him gently with his tail and settling it over his paws loosely. "The sunrise is amazing from here." A little more said then usual probably, but there was nothing wrong with caring and commenting. Hopefully it would seem as normal as he wanted to believe it was. He smiled again -not playfully as usual, but lovingly, affectionate- and looked his mate in the eye, as if memorizing her as she was at that moment. A kind soul with a beautiful heart to match her looks. Mikkikko would always marval at how lucky he was to have her.

For a heart-beat, Massie hesitated, pondering this seeming change of mood. But, she decided to dismiss the matter, her green gaze lingering for only a moment on the horizon, before she turned to gaze at Mikkikko, her expression warm. Briefly sihlouetted against the horizon, she blinked gently and padded over toward him. When she reached her mate's side, Massie sighed softly, her gaze reflecting her own feelings as she met his. Sitting down beside the ruddy tom, she gently entwined her calico tail with his dark red one, only nodding to the sunrise comment with silent appriciation. In the silence that followed, the loner's gaze eventually left the horizon, and rose to the sky. Golden warmth slowly seeped across its dark depths as morning fell upon the lands. These moments were the ones Massie wished could last forever. But time never worked that way. Thoughfully, she lowered her gaze, and fixed it instead once again on Mikkikko, purring the three true words softly. "I love you."
