OOC// That's it. That is it! I don't care if it's not even the full moon, or there aren't all the leaders around. I've decided there is going to be a gathering... RIGHT NOW. CALLING ALL LEADER/DEPUTIES OR WHOEVER IS REPRESENTING THERE CLANS!! Btw, Rox, this can be like, right before the battle at Sunningrocks, so it's not all awkward and that way Rosebloom and Foxtail aren't preoccupied, since even if Foxtail doesn't come Rosebloom can cause she's the deputy. Your choice if he comes or not. The gathering will probably be short enough to not matter if it was before or after the Sunningrocks battle. I'll announce the arrival of my characters from RC, WC, & SC when you and Tess post. Who shall represent WC since Jess is gone? If she's not really coming back, I think we might what to remove Emorystar. But Lionclaw can't be leader since Tess already has one. If you want, and I'll make a leader. But for now, Lionclaw can represent WindClan if that's okay with you Tess. Unless you don't want him to be deputy anymore. Dawnfur will represent ThunderClan for now.
IC// It seemed too long since the last gathering the tortoiseshell queen had been to. Long before the troubles with ThunderClan had began. Her clan was slowly dieing, and there wasn't anything she could do about it. Nightstar vanished. Their deputy dead. And a medicine cat? ThunderClan hadn't seen one since the death of Dawnfur's own first apprentice, Lionpelt. Cats were disappearing everyday. The clan was slowly descending into maddness. But Dawnfur refused to let the other clans see how weak they were. She wouldn't let them give up without a fight. Not now. Not ever.
Her mottled fur bristled, sitting at the top of the hollow with her fellow ThunderClan warriors. The old queen's muscles tensed, feeling strained. There was no questioning the years Dawnfur had seen. For any other warrior, by her age they would have seen retirement. But she wasn't quite finished yet. She might not be young, but she was young enough. Behind her were Hazelstripe and Rabbitpaw. Her daughter had been reluctant to leave Destinystep, and they'd needed warriors to guard the camp anyway. There were also another 5 or so warriors and apprentices behind them.
Although the thought of leaving ThunderClan with so little protection was unnerving, she couldn't afford to leave so many behind or else her clan would appear weak. She could smell the faint scent of the other four clans, but knew that they were the first to arrive. "Say nothing." she hissed to the cats behind her. Then, signaling to ThunderClan with a flick of her tail, they descended into the great hollow surrounded by StarClan's four sacred oaks.
Hazelstripe followed a few tail lengths away, her tabby pelt quivering. She was nervous to be attending a gathering when their clan was in such a termoil. She musn't say anything to anyone about the chaos residing in ThunderClan territory. But what was even more nerve-racking to her was the thoughts and rumors floating around inside her clan. She was concerned about what they were saying, and even more worried that they were true. Was all their bad fortune really her fault? As she gazed around the clearing, she tasted the air in hopes of detecting her friend, Brighteyes's, familiar scent, but RiverClan hadn't arrived yet.
Rabbitpaw trembled with excitment as he followed the warriors into fourtrees. This was it! His very first gathering! Even though ThunderClan was facing hard times, he couldn't help but feel happy he was chosen to go. He'd been left behind for the last gathering, so going to this one felt oddly satisfying. The tom couldn't wait to mingle with the other apprentices. He would find out ton about them and their clans. Maybe he would hear something that could be useful to ThunderClan in the future. A chill shot down his spine when he scented the rest of the clans who were sure to be close by.
OOC// Well, that sucked.

Frostfang knew things wer tense between clans at the moment, but she never thought that it could be this bad. Cats from the same clan wouldn't dare talk to each other, while cats from opposing clans were acting paranoid. Apprentices were an exception. Frostfang caught the eye of the ThunderClan warrior Dawnfur and nodded her greeting.

OOC//Yeah, it can be before the battle.
Smokepaw's muscles tensed as he padded after the tortoiseshell senior warrior into the clearing. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he looked around, tail flicking restlessly from side to side. Not only was Smokepaw fiercely loyal to ThunderClan, but his pride allowed no room in his heart for any of the other Clan's. What was the point of these Gatherings, anyway? It was stupid. Who cared about the petty troubles of his rivals? But Gatherings were part of the warrior code, something that the apprentice had to grudgingly respect if he ever hoped to become a warrior himself.
At this point, ThunderClan seemed to be the first to have arrived. Smokepaw lifted his chin proudly as he reached Four Trees, and padded over to Rabbitpaw. He could see the excitement in his friends eyes, but turned distainfully away to disguise his own. He wouldn't let the other Clan cats see even a flicker of emotion.
Foxtail padded carefully behind Smokepaw and the rest of the ThunderClan cats. It worried him, the current state of his Clan. Surely the other Clans knew that Dawnfur was neither leader nor deputy of ThunderClan, and they couldn't exactly lie about her status. What was she going to tell them? Forcing his brown and white fur to lie flat, Foxtail looked around. He parted his jaw to taste the air slightly, and could sense the other Clans approaching--RiverClan in particular. His whiskers twitched in anticipation. Rosebloom, the cat he loved, would be at this Gathering. He knew it was risky and disloyal to have a cat from another Clan as a mate, let alone a deputy, but he'd learned that one couldn't help who they loved. True, they'd have to appear as nothing more than friends in front of the other Clans now, but just being with her would be enough.
Badgerstar gazed nervously down into the clearing. Tonight would mark her first Gathering as the official leader of RiverClan. True, she'd represented her Clan during Morningstar's absense before, but as no more than a deputy. She felt a mingled bristle of anxiety and pride run through her as her sapphire gaze swept Four Trees. ThunderClan had already arrived, but the other Clans remained absent. There was no time to lollygag. With a yowl to announce the arrival of RiverClan, the black-and-white she-cat flicked her tail and padded down the slope and into the gathering. Her heart pounded in her chest, but she tried to remain calm and cool as she padded to her medicine cat's side and gave a short nod to the tortoiseshell before them.
"Dawnfur," She greeted evenly. "How's the prey running?"
Brighteyes, too, padded into the clearing. His black pelt glimmered in the moonlight, his orange eyes showing none of their usual guarded coldness. For now, he was padding over to Hazelstripe, his best friend and the only cat he could truly open up around. "Hey, Hazelstripe," The warrior mewed with a friendly twitch of his whiskers.
Jitterpaw, meanwhile, could barely wait for Badgerstar's signal. The over-excited she-cat charged into the valley at Badgerstar's heels, attempting to skid to a stop at the bottom of the ravine, and failing dismally. The ginger she-cat tumbled over her paws and rolled into the clearing, sending up dust and sand. She struggled to her feet at once, spitting slightly, but refused to let her ungraceful entrance dampen her enthusiasm. It wasn't as if she wasn't used to such clumsiness, anyway. One learned not to be embarrassed.
Jitterpaw cast a gaze around the clearing, and spotted two ThunderClan apprentices side by side nearby. Her ginger tail raised in greeting, the little she-cat padded over to Smokepaw and Rabbitpaw and gave a little grin. "Hi!" She mewed cheerfully as she sat down and gave one of her paws a quick wash. "I'm Jitterpaw."

OOC: I'm here. But should I post with Lionclaw? Or is Emorystar active now?
Fleetfoot slinks silently into the clearing after Badgerstar gives the signal. Unlike most of his Clan-mates, he is no hurry to enter the Gathering. He just doesn't see the point in them, and he can't bring himself to trust any of the cats from other Clans for a second. His silver eyes narrow dangerously as he looks around the clearing. His lip curls in mild disgust when he sees a group of apprentices frolicking nearby. Why make friends when you know you'll have to fight them one day? It only creates room for weakness. He thinks bitterly, turning his head away in distain. Fleetfoot keeps close to his clan-mates for awhile, but knows that they will disperse soon. Badgerstar is already heading over to a tortoiseshell ThunderClan warrior. Lashing his grey tail, Fleetfoot slinks away from the mingling and heads over to the Great Rock. He settles down beneath it, tucking his paws under him and waiting impatiently for the Gathering to begin.
Mistystar looks down into the clearing to where a good many cats have already gathered. She scents the air as the night breeze sweeps by, and can tell that ShadowClan aren't the last to arrive tonight. Only ThunderClan and RiverClan have gathered so far. Not wanting to waste moonlight, she glances quickly up at the full moon, and flicks her tail gently. The signal to send the rest of her Clan down into the clearing. She pads forward calmly as Maplepaw eagerly races past her, and gazes from Dawnfur to Badgerstar idly. Greeting them with a slight nod, she states, "Good evening." and sits down with her tail wrapped neatly around her paws.

Green eyes skimmed the clearing as RiverClan cats filed in behind Badgerstripe and Frostfang. The white medicine cat approached the tortoiseshell, nodding a formal greeting, followed by the tabby she-cat. "Dawnfur." she said, a new air of authority in her voice. There was no doubt now, Badgerstripe had indeed succeeded Morningstar, which meant she must have had time to visit the Moonstone before the gather. "How's the prey running?" Dawnfur nodded politely, a sign respect for the new leader while still holding a sense of equallity within ranks. True, Dawnfur wasn't the leader, but she was representing her clan now, and she had had a life time of experience before the RiverClanner had even been born. To be perfectly honest, the mottled she-cat probably should have been in the Elders' Den by now. If things were different, she might have been. Who knows...
"Good evening Badgerstar, Frostfang." she meowed in return, seating herself where she was and curling her tail around her black paws. "Good, now that the thaw has come." she replied, choosing her words carefully. No clan could ever know how much ThunderClan was suffering now. Thankfully, the prey had been good, so it wouldn't look as though ThunderClan were starving. Lack of prey would have been the least of their problems anyway. "Silverpelt is bright tonight." she commented, gesturing to the stars that shone above. Mistystar soon joined them, and Dawnfur meowed a warm greeting to her as well.
Rabbitpaw shook his tabby pelt and twitched his whiskers as Smokepaw joined him. His friend couldn't fool him. Smokepaw was excited too, even if he was just a big old stick in the mud sometimes. Before he could say anything, RiverClan appeared, and a ginger she-cat, one who Rabbitpaw guessed to be an apprentice, bounded over to meet them. But along the way she lost control of her balance and tumbled forward. The tom purred with amusement and flicked his tail, gesturing to her. "Check out RiverClan's new batch!" he said, though he meant nothing rude by it if you can believe that. The she-cat stood up a moment later however, obviously unshaken, and trotted over to the pair of ThunderClanners. "Hi! I'm Jitterpaw!" "Rabbitpaw." the tom replied with a smile. He flicked his striped tail at his clanmate. "And this is Smokepaw."
A golden furred apprentice followed more cautiously after her denmate, aware of the steep slope beneath her paws. Honeypaw watched in amusement as her sister took a nose-dive into the clearing in all her excitement. She and her sister could be so unalike sometimes. She followed the ginger femme over to where two ThunderClan toms were surveying their surroundings. Jitterpaw quickly introduced herself, eager to make friends. Honeypaw sat beside her, tail tapping the sound dirt-covered forest floor lightly, but didn't bother speaking. Jitterpaw would probably do enough of that for the both of them.
Rosebloom's small black frame followed Badgerstar and Frostfang into Fourtrees. She tried not to appear anxious, but she couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of seeing Foxtail again. It'd been a while since they'd met on the border. Foxtail had been busy lately, or so he said. The she-cat desperately hoped nothing was wrong, even if it meant praying for a clan other than her own. It didn't take long for her to pick the mottled tom out from the rest of the ThunderClan cats. To be honest, there weren't many there anyway. She silently wondered why ThunderClan dared bring so few cats. Did they expect an attack from another clan, and have to leave warriors behind to guard their camp?
She shook the thoughts away. She was just being paranoid. There was nothing wrong with ThunderClan, and there were probably more cats that she saw sitting among the brush and debris, sharing tales with the newly arrived RiverClanners. Rosebloom also realized that neither ShadowClan nor WindClan had appeared yet. She was just wondering what was taking them so long when Mistystar led her clan down the slope and joined Dawnfur, Badgerstar, and Frostfang. The ShadowClan cats dispersed. Seizing her chance, she glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then made her way toward her mate. "Hello, Foxtail. How is the prey running?" she asked casually, trying her best to appear as though there was nothing more between them then any other cat had with someone of another clan. She wondered if there were other cats going through when they were having to endure. Perhaps if there were time, they might find some place to have a more private talk. There was something she needed to tell him. She wasn't positive yet, but he still deserved to know.
Hazelstripe was finally able to pick out Brighteyes from the group of cats that followed Badgerstar into the hollow. Smiling, relief washed over her. Although they were in different clans, they had been close friends for almost as long as she could remember. He was her only real friend. She walked a little straighter as she padded toward her friend, him coming to meet her half way. "Hey Hazelstripe." he greeted her warmly. "Hello Brighteyes." she replied, reaching out to touch his nose in a friendly manner. "How are you?" Her nerves were forgotten now that she had someone to talk to. Everything seemed to be falling apart lately. She just wanted to sit and share tongues with her friend for a while. He would know what to say to cheer her up.

OOC//Okay I kinda have to go in like...well, five minutes ago. Sooo this is gonna be rushed and crappy, but oh well.
Badgerstar nodded, glancing up at the night sky. Indeed, it sparkled and shone with the thousands of stars that only added to the luminous presence of the full moon. "We can only hope it signals a peaceful Gathering tonight." She meowed quietly. For indeed, the tension in the forest seemed to be...building, somehow. And she couldn't place her paw on it, but there was almost a sense of cold in the air that had nothing to do with the weather. She shook it off, and turned slightly as the ShadowClan leader approached them, and dipped her head slightly in greeting. "Hello, Mistystar."Badgerstar meowed smoothly, with a slight smile. "Alls well in ShadowClan, I hope?"
She maintained the calm, reserved and yet friendly attitude of any leader attending a gathering, not betraying her emotion by so much as a flick of the ear. But inside, Badgerstar was wound tight as could be. Normally, at Gatherings, she'd be off chatting with the other deputies and a few warriors about apprentice training and the like. She couldn't say she was quite used to all of this yet, and simply hoped to StarClan she wasn't doing a horrible job.
Jitterpaw flashed a grin at Rabbitpaw, and then switched her gaze to Smokepaw, who stared coolly back at her. The two apprentice stared at each other for a moment, Jitterpaw tilting her head to the side slightly, before she turned back to Rabbitpaw, seeming unconcerned by the cold exchange. "He's not much of a talker, is he? Well, that's alright!" She purred, her tail twitching slightly in amusement.
"No," Smokepaw muttered back. "And I probably haven't inhaled quite as much catnip as you, either." He wasn't one for socializing at Gatherings, not with other Clans, at least. They couldn't be trusted, after all, and he wasn't exactly sure what this one was trying to pull.
But Jitterpaw merely rolled her eyes and scoffed, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You'd get on well with my sister! She's--" The ginger apprentice spun around in search of Honeypaw, only to find the golden she-cat sitting beside her. Jitterpaw's grin widened, giving her sister a friendly nudge, before turning back to the ThunderClan apprentices. "Here she is! This is Honeypaw. Honeypaw, this is Rabbitpaw and Stoneface--err, Smokepaw." She reported. "I've found your ThunderClan counterpart!" She was only teasing, of course, but Smokepaw gave an annoyed growl at this all the same, as if biting back another retort. Jitterpaw, oblivious as always, chattered on.
"So what's training like in ThunderClan? I think Honeypaw and I are almost ready to be warriors! I mean, we still have some hunting and swimming stuff left to do, but Badgerstar's hinted at it!" She informed them happily, before miraculously falling silent as she awaited an answer.
Foxtail looked up to see the pretty ebony she-cat padding towards him, and had to surpress a purr. If they took one wrong pawstep here, their feelings could be revealed, and then what? Foxtail didn't think he could take being banned from seeing his mate; it'd be too much. And so, taking on a smile that seemed only friendly and polite, he meowed, "Good evening, Rosebloom. Well, thank you, considering it's Leaf-Bare. What about in RiverClan?" Though they were only exchanging polite words that would seem 'normal', he really was curious to know. Though Foxtail's loyalties would always be to ThunderClan, he couldn't help worrying about RiverClan sometimes, if only for Rosebloom's sake.
Brighteyes smiled slightly, and shrugged, before relaxing a bit. He hadn't realized how tense he'd been among the rest of the Clans before now, and shook the feeling off wordlessly. "I'm alright. Just tired. My apprentice is quite the pawful." He told her, amused. Sitting down beside Hazelstripe, he curled his black tail around his paws. "And how are you?" [/b] [/size][/blockquote]

The moon had become a pale, flat disk in the sky as WindClan descended amongst the other cats, thin, but wiry and strong as always. Warily the handsome tomcat led his Clan towards Fourtrees, his tail flicking slightly as he walked, scenting RiverClan, ShadowClan and ThunderClan had already arrived. He had given Lionclaw the okay to go ahead- he needed a moment to think about what he would say to the other Clans about how WindClan was faring. He still wasn't sure.
It was hard- he could tell as soon as he saw them that the Clans, especially ThunderClan, were not faring well. He caught the eyes of a few of their warriors, and they all seemed tense, worried. His Clan would not worry tonight, for WindClan was doing well enough- they were fed most of the time, and although they were small, they were strong. Pebblestar quickened his pace to a lope and entered the clearing, nodding respectfully to the other leaders. He had never been on great terms with Morningstar, and, now that she was gone, he felt that perhaps he could get Badgerstar and RiverClan as an ally. Always strong and well-fed, he knew that would be an important and powerful ally to have, but he could wait. The poor cat looked stricken as it was. With a half-smile he leaped onto the rock beside them, his muscles rippling under his sleek brown pelt.
"Hello," he meowed, settling back onto his haunches.
Darkbird followed gloomily behind Mistystar, his ears flattened at every sound. He hated Gatherings. So many cats, all together at once- couldn't his leader see that this was the worst idea? Clan secrets could easily be given away by the careless apprentice or warrior. But that wasn't his problem. He settled beside a ThunderClanner that he seemed to remember as Foxtail, curling a tail around his paws while he sheathed and unsheathed his pale claws in agitation.
Morningdove tried to be positive, but she knew ThunderClan wasn't doing well, and Wind, River, and ShadowClan seemed so healthy! And so full of life! She didn't much feel like mingling, so she settled near Jitterpaw as she babbled to two other apprentices, to keep an eye out. It was possible Jitterpaw would say something stupid, and the ginger she-cat would try to avoid that if possible.

Badgerstar switched her gaze from Mistystar to Pebblestar, the WindClan leader, as he approached and mewed a greeting. She nodded formally, her gaze slightly nervous. Now that he'd arrived, all three of the other leaders(though Dawnfur was serving as ThunderClan's subsitute leader, she respected the warrior just as much for her experience and wisdom) were present. Her black-and-white fur prickled with slight unease. All of these cats were so much more experienced than she was...what if they thought that Morningstar had been wrong to choose her as deputy, and then leader? What if they were right? Her ear flicked, and this was the only sign of anxiety that she dared portray. Badgerstar would just have to learn not to care what any other Clan thought about her. One way or another, she'd prove that RiverClan was just as strong as any of the other Clans.
"Good evening, Pebblestar. How are you?" The leader meowed politely. She still couldn't shake the feeling of oddness toward this formality--interaction between deputies had been much more relaxed. Badgerstar supposed it was just another aspect of leader life that she'd need to get used to. And she would, sooner or later. Her gaze briefly flickered around the clearing, wordlessly checking how the other RiverClan cats were getting on. Fleetfoot sat alone, while Honeypaw and Jitterpaw were speaking to a few ThunderClan cats, and her sister Rosebloom sat near the warrior Foxtail. All seemed to be going well. Returning her gaze to Pebblestar and the rest of the leaders, Badgerstar allowed herself to relax...at least until the Gathering started.
Jitterpaw's bright gaze switched from Rabbitpaw to Smokepaw and back again as she waited for a reply, her whiskers twitching with charactaristic curiousity. It was then that she noticed a ThunderClan she-cat settling beside her. Her short attention-span revealing itself once again, the RiverClan apprentice turned to give Morningdove a friendly grin. "Hi there!" She greeted, her tone chipper. "I'm Jitterpaw. And this is Honeypaw." She mewed, flicking her tail to where her sister sat beside her. "What's your name?"
Her ginger head tilting inquiringly, Jitterpaw surveyed the she-cat further. She looked older than both Rabbitpaw and Smokepaw, who both seemed to be senior apprentices. Jitterpaw's autumn-leaf gaze brightened in excitement. "Wow! Are you a warrior? I never met a warrior from another Clan before--they're always so busy at Gatherings. So what's it like?" The talkitive she-cat was soon happily chattering away once again without a care in the world.
Drizzlepaw paused at the top of the ravin, her eyes darting around the clearing nervously. There were so many cats down there...this wasn't a good idea...not at all. She was hardly comfortable being around too many of her own Clan, but this? This was a nightmare. She had half a mind to turn tail and head for home, but she knew that this wouldn't be appropriate. It was an honor to be chosen for the Gathering, and she couldn't betray weakness around the other Clans. Not that she cared for her own sake, but she couldn't bare to let down WindClan yet again. Her tail dragging, Drizzlepaw slunk down into the clearing, where she settled down unenthusiastically. She made sure to keep a good distance from where a few RiverClan and ThunderClan cats had gathered, her eyes narrowing as if she dared any cat to approach her.
Bandedtail padded down into the clearing after Mistystar, his head held high. The warrior's ears were pricked attentively as he gazed around the clearing, where several groups had already formed. It seemed that all four Clans had arrived, though not everyone had entered the clearing yet. Interesting. He smirked and settled down with his silver tail wrapped around his paws. The ShadowClan tom was content to watch his surroundings, for now. Perhaps later he'd find some she-cat to speak with. Of course, Bandedtail wouldn't dream of breaking the warrior code, but he couldn't help his flirtatious nature.
OOC//Eh, I'll post with Foxtail once Dawnie replies with Rosebloom.

The voices rang clear into the night air as the tension rose and sank, moving from place to place. Pebble-tan fur bristled as he shifted his weight to sit completely, eyeing the new leader warily. "Good. Very good. I'm sorry to hear about Morningstar," he added, eyes searching for any sign that the other cat was nervous. This would be a good time to take some territory- some RiverClan prey would be slower and not as nimble as the prey in WindClan, and easier catches meant more food, which meant stronger warriors. "Does this mean you're the new leader?" He had not heard from RiverClan since Morningstar's death, and so he wasn't sure how to go about taking any territory. He wasn't malicious- he cared for his Clan, and, if RiverClan needed more territory they could fight for it with Thunder or ShadowClan. Besides- a new leader would be quick to turn the other way, not wanting to have any cats injured in her name until they trusted her completely. It was a good plan, but he needed the facts. Was she expecting it? Was she ready? Was she having other issues? Pebblestar knew she would never tell him, but it would be obvious if it was significant.
Morningdove looked disdainfully at the chattery apprentice, glancing sideways at Smokepaw and Rabbitpaw. Great StarClan! Does she ever shut up? She broke in, twitching a whisker. "Yes, I'm Morningdove. Although I'm surprised you could tell I was a warrior- I'm not much bigger than you." This much was true. If Jitterpaw wanted to talk, then the ginger warrior would talk- but not give anything away. That was vitally important.

Badgerstar paused at the mention of the former RiverClan leader. It was still so strange speaking of Morningstar like this; for she'd been missing for moons before they'd found her body, and Badgerstar had always been certain that she was alive. The black and white she-cat struggled to hide her stricken state. Morningstar hadn't been too old; she probably wouldn't even have been an elder if she'd been a warrior. Could she have really been on her last life? Or had something terrible ripped more than one of her lives from her? There was no time to ponder this now, however. Badgerstar knew that if she hesitated too long, it might betray signs of weakness. "Thank you. Her Clan grieves her." She murmured, grief flickering in her blue eyes. Morningstar had been Badgerstar's mentor and friend as well as her leader, and so she wouldn't be quick to forget the she-cat. But here, in front of Pebblestar and the other leaders, was the last place she wanted to portray her doubts. Her tail twitching, Badgerstar decided that she'd prefer to change the subject right about now. All of the Clan cats had gathered and seemed to be mingling without issue. "Perhaps we should begin soon?" She suggested, her gaze flickering to Silverpelt where the full moon was already high in the sky.
Jitterpaw's ears twitched as she surveyed Morningdove thoughtfully. The apprentice's curiosity was growing by the minute, until she was sure she would burst from all of the questions running through her head. She wanted to know so much about warrior life, and about the other Clans. Was life there anything like RiverClan? Of course, the small, sensible part of her mind reminded her that asking too many questions like this would be considered nosy. Even so, the apprentice could barely hold her tongue. "Well, yeah, but it's easy to tell! I mean, us apprentices are...well, we're excited to be here, and we're not afraid to show it...aside from those two furballs." She mewed with a teasing glance at Honeypaw and a flick of an ear at Smokepaw. "Gatherings are so amazing! But you warriors are so calm. You can totally see the wise-ness in your eyes!" Jitterpaw explained seriously. She wondered how the warriors did it--she couldn't imagine herself being this graceful and serious when she became a warrior. Where was the fun in that?
Smokepaw watched the interaction between his clan-mate and the RiverClan apprentice, his eyes narrowed crossly. His plans tonight certainly didn't include being talked to death. With a snort of disapproval, he turned his sullen glare to Honeypaw, who seemed to at least be controlling herself. "Is your sister always this much of a mouse-brain?" He growled irritably. He had not taken well to being called a furball by some she-cat he hardly knew, and didn't really care what Honeypaw thought of his insulting her clan-mate.

((Rimestar wasn't leader at this point, right?))
Otterpaw padded down after Dawnfur. She noticed that she was one of the last ThunderClan cats to enter the clearing. That was typical. But she didn't really mind, because she didn't want to be in the midst of a crowd as big as the one down there. Otterpaw was okay with a little bit of small talk, but Gatherings were overwhelming. She padded down into the clearing without saying anything. She passed a ThunderClan warrior named Foxtail and the RiverClan and ShadowClan cats he was speaking to. Then she glanced over to where Rabbitpaw, Smokepaw, and Morningdove were speaking with some RiverClan apprentices. They looked deep within conversation, or more accurately a RiverClan apprentice who looked around Otterpaw's age was doing enough talking for everyone. Otterpaw smiled in amusement and padded over to them. She sat down near the ThunderClan apprentices and began to listen. But then she noticed a small WindClan apprentice sitting off on her own. Otterpaw shot her a curious look. Was she just imagining it, or did the she-cat look distressed?
Otterpaw stood up and padded over to Drizzlepaw. She stopped a few tail-lengths away and looked the other cat up and down curiously. She was a tabby like Otterpaw, only her pelt was gray instead of brown. Otterpaw attempted to give her a friendly smile. Drizzlepaw didn't look very happy, which made the ThunderClan apprentice curious. Gatherings had to be taken seriously of course, because of all of the rival clan cats around. But they were also a time to have a bit of fun. Otterpaw wondered why this apprentice didn't seem to be enjoying herself. Most of the other apprentices had gathered elsewhere, and Otterpaw didn't want this one to be left out.
"Hello. Do you want to come over and sit with me and the other cats over there?" She asked, trying to sound friendly. To explain, she swept her tail in the direction of Jitterpaw and the others.
