OOC>> Tis okay, I have had a rather strong and sudden erge to roleplay a human love plot suddenly so I'm not much for the animal posts right now either. ^.^ Realizing that she hadn't answered Massie's question, she turned to nod. "Yes, we have. That was what I was thinking might have happened. If the kits were still in the forest, even if... I think that some cat must have found them and taken them in, not knowing that they were clan kits." Mikkikko listened, his head clear enough now to keep up with both conversations.
"What about Destinystep?" he asked, flicking his tail in annoyance when he remembered the tom's cold remarks about his parents and his clan. But he knew where Destinystep was coming from when he'd said that, Mikkikko would have probably said the same thing if the tables had been turned. Besides, Twilightshadow's words about Leafwhisper having the same parents seemed to have put him in line.
"I... I hoped that maybe you could talk to him. He's been so depressed lately. He doesn't say much, he does chores that aren't even asked of him, even things that the apprentices are suppose to take care off. He's almost... robotic now." Worried crept into the she-cat's green eyes. "If there is anything you could say or do to help, or at least if there is anything you think I could do, I would really appretiate it. I know it's not your responability to even care, but I just hoped that there was something you could do since you both lost someone so close to you." She gazed at both Mikkikko and Massie, for perhaps Massie could think of something as well. She was up for anything, she just wanted to help Destinystep anyway she could.

The loner's eyes narrowed, every muscle in her slender body tensed. Her fur, mottled with orange and black, was fluffed, and she was too indignant to force the bristling fur on her back flat this time. Massie had had just about enough of all this. If the kits really were alive, by some slim-chanced miracle, they were wasting time sharing with this ThunderClan cat! And now, Gentleheart was asking them to do what, exactly? She could hardly imagine herself, a bristly sharp-tongued female, comforting anyone. Even if she could occasionally, as she had previously with Mikkikko, she wouldn't waste time directing her words to some depressed Clan-cat. With a slight huff of frustration, Massie narrowed her eyes, tail whipping from side to side in annoyance and impatience.
"In case you haven't noticed, I don't exactly mix with you Clan-cats too well. And the last time Mikkikko encountered the one you speak of, all he got was a pawful of claws in his face!" Massie snapped dismissively, her old temper ebbing back into her personality now that the shock of it all was beginning to wear off. Hot-headedly, she turned to glare at Mikkikko through slitted eyes, wondering what her mate thought of the whole situation. He couldn't possibly be willing to help Destinystep now! What were they going to do, waltz into ThunderClan territory to have a little chat with one of the warriors? And get my ears clawed off? Hardly! Massie thought with a scowl. "Something tells me that a loner and a BloodClanner wouldn't go over too well with our old ThunderClan buddies.
Returning her cold stare to Gentleheart, she allowed her paws to knead the grassy ground. "Look, do you want the kits back or not? Because we don't exactly have time for a full-blown conversation here." Massie pointed out testily, although a hint of anxiety edged her meow now. If they had to discuss Destinystep, now wasn't exactly the best time.

Gentleheart was beginning to get annoyed. She'd had enough of this loner's snarky attitude, especially since she'd only come to help. Sure, she might be Mikkikko's mate, but Gentleheart was about ready to claw her ears off any how. Sensing the obvious distain between the two she-cats, Mikkikko stepped forward, just enough to get in the way incase one of them lost it. Before he could speak, Gentleheart replied sharply,
"If the kits really are alive and being taken care of, then there is enough time. I wouldn't have bothered coming here and telling you both until I'd found them if I had thought that they could be in danger." She glared at Massie over Mikkikko's ruddy form. "And if they're dead, then time is lost and we have nothing more to lose. Now if you would be so kind as to stop changing the subject, maybe we can get moving a bit faster. Hmm?" With that said, she forced herself to pull her penitrating gaze away from Massie and back to Mikkikko who was standing, slightly baffled, between them.
It took a minute for him to find his voice. "I would appriciate it if you didn't speak that way to my mate." he said through his teeth when he finally did. "And I'd appriciate it if she didn't speak that way to me." the she-cat shot back. The BloodClanner was at a lose for words here, but he glared at Gentleheart just the same. "I know we're not a likely bunch and that you'd both prefer it if I just left, but I needed to tell you. And I just needed to know." Through the grey she-cat's anger and frustration, Mikkikko could see a little desperation. It made a world of difference.
Mikkikko's gaze softened up just slightly and he sighed, in thought. Finally he said, "What would I be able to do? He hates me, or did you forget?" Gentleheart just shook her head. "No. He was just angry at himself. He needed someone to take it out on, and you happened to be there, the first one in his path. I'm really sorry for it, and I'm sure he is too. Please, maybe you could just... just... I don't know, talk to him. After all, you both lost her. Believe me, I know how much it hurts." Gentleheart's throat was swelling and felt dry, but she fought away the tears, determined not to show weakness. "I really do."
Mikkikko's heart went out to her. She must have lost someone dear to her, just as he had. Even if it might have been an act, he had to admit, she was good. Mikkikko was overwelmed with the desire to at least try to help Destinystep, but he wouldn't know where to begin. And with the kits and with things just patched up between him and Massie, not to mention that little near death experience, he just wasn't sure if he could take anything else, especially trying to give a grieving cat a pep talk. He was not one of those types of cats. He let out a deflating sigh and glanced at Massie, silently asking her opinion. She was his mate after all. The calico she-cat was always there for him, no matter what. She had just prooved that only a while ago.

Massie stood frozen in momentary shock as Gentleheart turned to her, and finally snapped. The she-cat had seemed so soft-spoken, kind, and, well...gentle until now, and she honestly hadn't expected such a reaction. Perhaps she had under-estimated the clan-cat. She stood in silence, fur bristling indignantly as Gentleheart finished, before collecting herself at last and glaring furiously at the ThunderClan cat. This she-cat was the one asking for their help! On their territory! Massie felt that she had every right to be wary and cold toward her.
"'Being taken care of'? Let's take a moment to snap ourselves out of our pretty, pampered little clan-lives, shall we? For all we know, a rogue could have found them, or a kittypet! Is that who you want taking care of those kits? I--"
But before she could say any more, Mikkikko stepped between them, cutting the furious calico off. Her eyes widened, and she remained tense for a moment as her mate defended her quietly, though Gentleheart didn't back down. With a deep, angry sigh, Massie forced her pelt flat to listen to the conversation, though she couldn't help glaring furiously at Gentleheart over Mikkikko's ruddy shoulder.
Her claws dug into the ground in frustration. In her angry state, Massie could hardly bring herself to sympathize herself with the she-cat at the moment. However, when Mikkikko turned to meet her gaze, and she recognized the trust and love in his wary stare, Massie finally allowed her gaze to soften. She narrowed her eyes, though her expression had warmed at last, and sighed. Calico-patched head bowed for a long moment, before she raised it again, eyes fixed on her mate as she stubbornly refused to glance at Gentleheart. This was something, she realized, that had to be done. And she'd help him do it. Not for Gentleheart, or for Destinystep, but for Mikkikko, and those kits. Lowering her tail slightly, she gave a slight nod.
"You...you were her brother, Mikkikko." She mewed softly, speaking of Leafwhisper. "You knew her better than any cat. I think that Destinystep could use...anything you have to say to him right now." She added, begrudgingly admitting that Gentleheart was right with a quick, formal glance at the ThunderClan cat. Massie paused for a moment, returning her gaze to her mate. "And...I'll be right there with you."
It was rare that the sharp-tongued she-cat allowed her soft side to be shown, but Mikkikko was one of the few who had seen it. She blinked gently at him, letting him know that her heart was finally in what she had just said.

Gentleheart wanted to say more. She wanted to inform Massie that Clan-life, as she called it, was in no way a 'pampered' life-style. Clans had to set their boundries and watch them carefully. They had to hunt for one another before themselves. They fought with other clans when boundries start to mesh and cats forget the code to which they vow to follow. Being a loner would be so easy compared to the life of a warrior. Only every having to hunt and worry for yourself, being far better sheltered from bad weather, having nearly was much territory as the clans did but all to themselves. The only thing she could imagine being hard on a loner was either a few bold cats trespassing or becoming lonely. But the she-cat was pretty sure Massie didn't have to worry about either. And she said Gentleheart was pampered.
The ThunderClanner also wanted to tell Massie that even if a rogue or a kittypet had them, they were sure to be alright for now. They would only be maybe a moon old, not old enough to let their current life-styles effect them. It was better they were being taken care of by a rogue or a kittypet then not being taken care of at all. For all the three of them knew, the kits could be dead! But Mikkikko was finally considering what she had to say. And she could just see Massie's sharp features fading into a warmer version of the loner. Maybe there was hope yet.
Mikkikko waited for his mate's reply. He could see that she was finally backing down. When she spoke, he almost felt relieved. "You... you were her brother, Mikkikko. You knew her better than any cat. I think that Destinystep could use... anything you have to say to him right now." she meowed softly. Mikkikko smiled slightly, in that crooked way of his, and just barely nodded. She was right. Even if the tom cat didn't want anything to do with him, he should at least try. After all, Mikkikko knew better then anyone what Destinystep was going through. Then Massie spoke again, making his smile grow with affection.
"And... I'll be right there with you." she said. He gently reached his muzzle forward and pressed his nose to hers. He searched her green eyes, she meant every word. "Thank you." his raspy voice answered so quietly Gentleheart might not have even heard it. At that moment, Gentleheart turned her gaze away. She suddenly felt as though she were intruding. More then that, something tore a hole through her heart. It was painful, and she still couldn't place why. She knew it deep down, but it just hadn't come up yet. She'd know eventually. "So you'll... you'll try then?" she asked timidly. Mikkikko turned to look at her again and nodded. Gentleheart couldn't help smiling with relief and a little bit of comfort. She had a feeling that Mikkikko would find just the right thing to say to Destinystep. And she desperatly hoped she was right.

Massie smiled and purred softly as Mikkikko brushed his muzzle against hers, sharing the moment of tender intimacy briefly before that she remembered Gentlheart, who had just spoken, and blinked, composing herself as her mate turned away.
After Mikkikko nodded, silence fell briefly over the three cats. Worried tension still clung to the air, making it thicker as if some sort of sudden humidity had come to the cliffs, traveling along the winds. Massie looked down, her white paws scuffing the earth slightly as she frowned and took in the whole situation. Half of her, no, most of her wanted to race right out of loner territory and find the kits on the spot. But she knew that the situation with Destinystep would have to be sorted out first. It was one of those situations where she'd need to think with her head, not her heart. With a soft sigh, she stared from BloodClanner to ThunderClanner, ears twitching quizically.
"Where, exactly, is Mikkikko supposed to speak to him, though?" She asked, speaking directly to Gentleheart at last. "I doubt ThunderClan would be too pleased to find us on their territory. It's risky," She added, with a concerned glance at the russet tom.

Mikkikko nodded again, agreeing with Massie. It would be a little hard to talk to a ThunderClanner when neither he nor Massie were aloud in ThunderClan territory. Gentleheart seemed to have already thought of that. "Well, I was thinking - if it's okay with you Massie - that maybe I could somehow bring him here. I don't know if this is part of your territory or not, but I wanted to ask you first, just incase it was." she replied.
The ruddy tom wasn't convinced. "How would you get him to come all the way out here?" he asked. The she-cat paused for a moment, thinking about her answer. "I suppose I could tell him I found something that I want to show him." she finally replied. It pained her to know she would be lying, but it was for Destinystep's own good. "I'll find a way just as long as your here when he comes." Mikkikko nodded, looking for holes in their little conspiracy. "What if he doesn't want to talk? We can't force him to listen to me." The warrior seemed to have thought of that, too. "I'll get him to listen, he trusts me." Seems like a little more then that. Mikkikko thought to himself, glancing toward his mate from the corner of his eye, both eyes sparkling mischeiviously as if he knew a dirty little secret.
"What about the kits?" he asked, returning his attention to that part of their dilema. She hesitated. "He doesn't know they exist. He thought they died along with Leafwhisper." Gentleheart paused for a moment. "Mikkikko, I don't want him to know. Not yet. If I tell him and we find out that the kits really are dead, it'll break his heart again." Mikkikko saw the sadness in her green eyes. Then nodded. "What do you think Massie?" he asked. He wanted her opinion on this. They did things together, he wasn't going to shut her out. Not again. Last time, it had hurt them worse then anything else could have.

Massie watched, or rather listened to the conversation that was playing out before her carefully. Her green gaze was neutral, except for the thoughtfulness currently portrayed in them. The complications of the matter only seemed to be growing, and she wasn't quite sure what to think or do about it. When Gentleheart spoke to her, she gave a short nod. She supposed that it wouldn't hurt to have the tom here for a short time if it was the only way, just so long as they made sure that no ThunderClan patrol noticed and followed them. With that decided, she narrowed her eyes slightly as the conversation between Mikkikko and Gentleheart continued.
"I'll get him to listen, he trusts me." The ThunderClan cat finished. Massie blinked, and when her mate looked at her, she fought a smile. He seemed to be thinking the same thing as her, or close to it. It was rather obvious to see that Gentleheart had feelings for this cat, and whether it was that she was oblivious to the fact or had realized this and was just denying it, it was slightly amusing. Still, there was no time to dwell on it.
The calico took in the rest of the conversation without a word until Mikkikko turned to her, at which point she frowned slightly and pondered it over. Her bristly tail tapped thoughtfully on the ground. After a few minutes, she spoke.
"Well, as the father, he has a right to know if there's any chance of finding them." Massie said, musing aloud. She blinked, switching her gaze from Mikkikko to Gentleheart and back again. "But I don't think there's any point in making things worse. Gentleheart is probably right, we should at least try to find them before we say anything." She suggested, almost surprised. Since when did she agree with Clan-cats so much? Still, she knew that stubbornness was no reason to ignore logic.
